Select Onkyo AV Components Get Firmware Update, Enabling Voice Control via Amazon Alexa
Press Release dated: 17 Dec 2019
TOKYO, JAPAN. December 17, 2019 — Onkyo & Pioneer Corporation is pleased to release a firmware update today for select Onkyo network AV components. This enables voice control for compatible AV components via an Alexa - device. With this update, you can enjoy various music and audio streaming services such as Amazon Music through your speakers connected via Onkyo components by simply asking Alexa. For example, when you ask Amazon Echo in your bedroom "Alexa, play top pop on Prime Music in the media room", the component in your media room will play a top pop from Amazon Prime Music.
Amazon Alexa Alexa is Amazon’s cloud-based voice service. With Amazon Echo devices or other Alexa-enabled devices, you can ask to play music, hear the news, check the weather, control smart home devices, and more*. The Works with Alexa certification program is designed to improve the responsiveness, reliability, and functionality of products so that users can comfortably use smart homes and accessory devices. For users, this means proof of a reliable product that works seamlessly with Alexa. * Use of streaming music services may require registration of separate membership, execution of service contracts and/or subscription fees. Use of smart home products may require compatible separate smart home hub products (sold separately).
